Happy Valentine's Day!

Tue, Feb. 14 2012

Or should I say, Happy Lupercalia.

From National Geographic news this morning:

More than a Hallmark holiday, Valentine's Day, like Halloween, is rooted in pagan partying. (See "Halloween Facts: Costumes, History, Urban Legends, More.")

The lovers' holiday traces its roots to raucous annual Roman festivals where men stripped naked, grabbed goat- or dog-skin whips, and spanked young maidens in hopes of increasing their fertility, said classics professor Noel Lenski of the University of Colorado at Boulder.

The annual pagan celebration, called Lupercalia, was held every year on February 15 and remained wildly popular well into the fifth century A.D.—at least 150 years after Constantine made Christianity the official religion of the Roman Empire.

However you choose to celebrate, enjoy the day!

So, Apple cleverly timed their revolutionary educational self-publishing announcement today to hitch a ride on the Artgig express.

I suppose it's just a coincidence that our all new Alien Buddies Puzzle game update went live in the App Store last night.

Well done, Apple - well done.

The Puzzle addition expands the early learning game suite from three to four activities, because the only thing better than fun is more fun, right?

Speaking of fun, Alien Buddies has been a lot of fun to work on, and we hope you and your kids enjoy the update as much as we've enjoyed making it.

And if you find that your kids are suddenly having more fun with Alien Buddies, please take a moment and leave an iTunes review - there's a link right on the Parents page in the app.

Good reviews and lots of 5 star ratings are the kind of thing that Apple likes to see.

And we really like hearing from you.
